Carey Elder has always believed that good design is felt before it's seen — in the layers of thought, intention, and care that quietly shape a space into something meaningful.
A Boston native who found her voice in Nashville and now calls Chicago's North Shore home, Carey brings a richly varied perspective to every project. She holds a Bachelor of Science from Vanderbilt University and a Master of Interior Architecture from Boston Architectural College, and built her early career alongside some of the most inspiring designers in Boston and Chicago.
Over the past two decades, Carey has worked across two distinct worlds of design — five years in boutique hospitality as a Senior Designer at Studio K Creative, crafting restaurants, wellness clubs, and luxury residences, and fifteen years in high-end residential design at celebrated firms including Bruce Fox, Wells & Fox, and Charles Spada. That breadth has given her something rare: the ability to hold beautiful, conceptual vision in one hand and precise construction documentation in the other.
What ties it all together is her approach to the client relationship. Carey works in close partnership with clients, builders, architects, and vendors — not to impose a point of view, but to listen deeply and design spaces that feel unmistakably like you. Whether she's sourcing an antique with a storied past or specifying a clean-lined modern detail, her goal is always the same: to make the process feel seamless and the result feel like home.
